I hope everyone in Australia is enjoying the warmer weather, now that our Summer is fast approaching! For Imaginarium Designs this month I have created two projects. My first project is a vintage inspired layout, using one of my favourite chipboard pieces, the Clock Face without Centre or Hands. I really 'love' clocks!
The photograph is of my Mum and I at Sovereign Hill, Victoria (some years ago now).
I adore the appearance of the crackled look, and it melds in beautifully with the vintage era. There are a vast variety of products out there to crackle your chipboard pieces. Crackling chipboard pieces is a simple process, and when using a heat gun, the process is quite quick too. Any colour can be the base, though if you apply a light base coat, be sure to use a darker paint or ink to bring out the cracked detail after crackling has taken place. Gold looks magical in the crevices of the cracks as well. Black is very striking, and white on a dark back-ground is amazing!

Above is a close up view of the crackled surface. Firstly, the Clock was painted in 'Sandal' acrylic paint, then crackle medium applied, and when totally dry, distress ink was rubbed into the surface cracks using a soft cloth (100% cotton works the best and no lint).
The title 'Lifetime of Memories' almost has the appearance of beaten metal, which comes with the light pouncing of the Adirondack Gold paint dauber - a fantastic product for chipboard pieces. Several coats were applied to achieve this 'look'. The best part about this medium of painting (using paint dauber), is the side pieces of the chipboard piece remain 'natural', no need to touch up afterwards.
I followed through with the gold paint on the Tulip Corners, beneath the flowers. The flower arrangement I created myself - not as difficult as it may appear. Just need a bit of patience, lots of wire, and florist tape!

.....and a card, because Christmas is just around the corner!
Again, my 'Christmas' title was painted and then crackle medium applied, and Walnut Stain ink wiped into the cracks.
The Leaves and Christmas Trees were each painted, and then highlighted here and there with basic acrylic paints. The areas of interest were highlighted with a Pigma Pen, to bring out the finer detail engraved into the chipboard, and a little bling added here and there to decorate.
Thanks for taking the time to call by.... To see more of my work, pop on over to my 'blog', and don't forget to leave a comment to be in the running to win a fantastic chipboard prize!
Till next month
